January 5-9
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful break! And, thank you again for all the great Christmas gifts!
I want to use this first blog of the new year to reiterate some important information.
Homework;
Generally I post a weekly schedule, but sometimes we go day by day. I will post any changes here, and changes are often necessary, so check often. The students should know their assignments and be responsible for changes as well as knowing what tests and quizzes are coming up and the material to study. This is an important skill for them to learn, and they can! :)
I will post homework daily this week. You can expect Math, Spelling, and sometimes Language on Mondays and Thursdays with History, Science, and Language on Tuesdays and Fridays. **The grading standard for homework is basically 100% for neatly completed assignments with deductions for homework that is illegible and for each day late. They will complete it at recess if it is not turned in during class.
Tests and Quizzes:
History and Science both have a quiz each week with Tests about every 2 weeks. Math and Language have fewer quizzes, but you can expect a quiz in one or the other each week with tests every other week. If you are ever unsure of what to study, just look over the last few sections completed in class in each subject.
We will have Bible verse quizzes and Spelling Tests on Fridays every week.
We will no longer do reading logs, but we will always be reading a chapter book, so they should continue to read often throughout the week, even if it is not specifically listed on the blog.
Attendance:
NLCA handbook explains our attendance policy, but I wanted to just mention that attending full days of school is very important and makes it much easier for the students to keep up and stay successful.
Finally, I will begin small group learning times after school soon. Please watch for that information to come home.
I hope this informational post will help as we jump into the second half of our year!
See you next week!
